Whether it’s tripping on the stairs, stubbing a toe on furniture, or somehow getting super glue stuck to your fingers, clumsy accidents happen to everyone. But according to new data from Won and Done, some states may be a lot more accident-prone than others.
The team at Won and Done Personal Injury Lawyers analyzed Google Search Trends tied to common clumsy mishaps to uncover which states are searching the most for injuries and everyday accidents. From twisted ankles to shattered glass, the results reveal where Americans may be having the hardest time staying on their feet and keeping away from urgent care visits.

Wyoming and Kansas Ranked Among America’s Clumsiest States
Wyoming ranked as the clumsiest state in America overall, with especially high search interest in more serious and pain-related accidents. Residents of Wyoming were frequently searching for concussion symptoms, burn treatment, and how to reduce swelling, suggesting a focus on both injury response and recovery from common accidents.
Kansas followed as the second clumsiest state, with search behavior more centered on everyday problems like falling down stairs and stubbed toes. Together, the two states stood out for both the frequency and variety of clumsy-related searches, reinforcing their position at the top of the rankings.
The Most Common Clumsy Accidents by State
The data also revealed which states are most likely to experience specific types of everyday clumsiness, showing that being clumsy doesn’t look the same everywhere. While some states stand out for general accident-related search volume, others are more strongly associated with particular types of injuries or incidents.
From twisted and sprained ankles to bruises, burns, and even spilled or broken items, each state appears to have its own “signature” clumsy moment. Why Some States Appear Clumsier Than Others
The differences across states likely come down to a mix of environmental and lifestyle factors. Cold-weather states tend to rank higher for stair-related injuries, possibly falls due to icy stairs, and in other regions, outdoor activities like hiking in Montana may contribute to more ankle injuries and bruising.
Taken together, the data paints a picture of how everyday clumsiness can vary across the country.
Methodology
To determine America’s clumsiest states, we analyzed search popularity data for 17 clumsy-related search terms, including nine common accident categories, over the past 12 months across all 50 states. The rankings were then used to identify both the clumsiest states overall and the states most associated with specific types of accidents.
